SwingSwing has its origins in the Lindy which paved the way for many more swing-style dances, including the American Swing, Boogie-Woogie, Hustle, Jitterbug, Jive, Rock and Roll, and West Coast Swing. At one time, the Lindy was characterized by jumps, spins, turns and throw-outs. Today, however, it has undergone many alterations and has been toned down and incorporated into a ballroom format known most commonly as the Swing. Like the Fox Trot, the Swing is written in 4/4 time with the first and third beats accented. There are three basic patterns that you can choose from: the Single Swing, Double Swing and Triple Swing.
